Level 2 Certificate Dyslexia and Other Specific Learning Difficulties
The purpose of the Level 2 Certificate Dyslexia and Other Specific Learning Difficulties qualification is to equip learners with the knowledge of Dyslexia and other Specific Learning Difficulties, including how they are diagnosed and how individuals can be supported.
This course is currently being subsidised by the college and is, therefore, free of charge at present UNLESS you fail to complete it; in which case you will be liable to pay £85 to cover the cost of materials and administration plus any registration costs that may have been incurred.
Learners will gain an understanding of what is meant by Specific Learning Difficulties. They will research the characteristics of different difficulties and gain an understanding of common misconceptions and how the difficulty is a lifelong condition.
They will learn how the attitudes of others can impact on the individual. Learners will develop an understanding of the importance of gaining an early diagnosis and the impact of delayed or non-diagnosis. They will also investigate the diagnosis process and the professionals involved.
The course will also cover how attitudes, legislation and services have evolved over time to support individuals with Specific Learning Difficulties

- Unit 02 Understand the effects of Specific Learning Difficulties
- Unit 03 Understand the diagnosis of Specific Learning Difficulties
- Unit 04 Understand supporting individuals with Specific Learning Difficulties
- Unit 05 Understand the context of Specific Learning Difficulties.
Although there are no formal entry requirements for this course due to the nature and course delivery of distance you must be able to produce evidence of a minimum of a level 1 (GCSE Grade D) qualification in English literacy or a higher level qualification.
If you are between 19 and 23 yrs of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification ie the equivalent of 5 GCSE Grades A- C

This will take no longer than 20 minutes to complete.
Learners are required to give written responses to questions provided with the learning materials. We recommend that learners complete and submit their written assessments electronically.
The course requires you to submit 2 written assessments and you have 4 weeks to submit each one.
Courses are only free to people who have lived in England for the past 3 yrs, are aged 19 years or over and are not currently accessing any other government funded training.
Please note there is a non-completion fee of £85 if you have to be withdrawn from the course.
