Level 2 Certificate in Improving Personal Exercise, Health and Nutrition

The Level 2 Improving Personal Exercise, Health and Nutrition course aims to provide knowledge on the importance of exercise and nutrition and how this can benefit the well-being of individuals. This course can be seen as an expansion to the Level 2 Nutrition and Health course as it goes in to deeper analysis in anatomy and monitoring/evaluating one’s exercise and nutrition lifestyle.

A poor diet and lack of exercise are seen as some of the major factors in ill health. Regular exercise and a balanced diet is important in one’s life and it helps to reduce stress, improve sleep, reduce the risk of illness and increase the quality of life.

Having a good understanding of diets, nutrition, exercise and personal motivation is vital in order to maintain well-being of yourself and others.

This course is currently being subsidised by the college and is, therefore, free of charge at present UNLESS you fail to complete it; in which case you will be liable to pay £85 to cover the cost of materials and administration plus any registration costs that may have been incurred.

Courses are fully funded for people who have lived in England for the past three years and are classed as “home fee paying students”, are aged 19 yrs or over and are not currently accessing any other government funding.
Please note there is a non-completion fee of £85 if you have to be withdrawn from the course.

The following units are covered in this course and will help you to understand the importance of nutrition and exercise and how to devise a good nutrition and exercise plan:

Unit 1 – Understand health, well-being and exercise

Unit 2 – Understand the role of nutrition in exercise

Unit 3 – Plan and prepare for personal exercise and nutrition

Although there are no formal entry requirements for this course, due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.

If you are between 19 and 23 yrs of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification ie the equivalent of 5 GCSE Grades A- C

This course will take 12 weeks to complete and consists of 3 written assessments.

Each candidate is required to give written responses to a work booklet either handwritten or to complete the booklet using an electronic template.

You will be required to submit 3 assessments. The first 2 assessments taking 3 weeks and the final assessment taking 6 weeks to complete.

For the final assessment you will complete a nutritional and exercise plan. These are aimed to be completed over the course of 4 weeks as part of your final assessment. You are then expected to evaluate your progress on completion and any differences if any that have occurred.
