Level 2 Certificate Understanding Behaviour that Challenges

The purpose of the Understanding Behaviour that Challenges qualification is to equip learners with an understanding of the common causes and triggers of behaviour that challenges.  Learners will also develop an understanding of effective communication skills and de-escalation techniques.

The qualification is suitable for a wide range of learners looking to improve their knowledge and awareness in this subject area, including those working within healthcare, social care and education contexts. The qualification is suitable for anyone wanting to learn how to respond to incidences of behaviour they may find challenging.

Course Fees: Free

This course is currently being subsidised by the college and is, therefore, free of charge at present UNLESS you fail to complete it; in which case you will be liable to pay £85 to cover the cost of materials and administration plus any registration costs that may have been incurred.
Courses are fully funded for people who have lived in England for the past three years and are classed as “home fee paying students”, are aged 19 yrs or over and are not currently accessing any other government funding.
Please note there is a non-completion fee of £85 if you have to be withdrawn from the course.

The Understanding Behaviour that Challenges course covers techniques for dealing with challenging behaviour in the most appropriate way, why challenging behaviour may occur and the importance of effective communication and personal reflection following an episode of behaviour that challenges.

Module A

  • Unit 01 Understand behaviour that challenges
  • Unit 02 Understand how to support positive behaviour

Module B

  • Unit 03 Understand the importance of effective communication and the management of behaviour that challenges
  • Unit 04 Understand the role of reflection and support for those involved in incidents of behaviour that challenges.

Although there are no formal entry requirements for this course due to the nature and course delivery of distance you must be able to produce evidence  of a minimum  of a level 1 (GCSE Grade D)  qualification in English or a higher level qualification.

If you are between 19 and 23 yrs of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification ie the equivalent of 5 GCSE Grades A- C

This will take no longer than 20 minutes to complete.

Learners are required to give written responses to questions provided with the learning materials. We recommend that learners complete and submit their written assessments electronically.

The course requires you to submit 2 written assessments and you have 4 weeks to submit each one.
