Section 1: Understanding the principles of safeguarding adults
In this section, your learners will cover the main types of abuse and harm that an individual is potentially at risk of experiencing, as well as the importance of being treated with dignity and respect when coming forward with details of a case of abuse.
Section 2: Reducing the likelihood of abuse
Your learners will cover expected levels of dignity and rights within a care environment in this section. They will also examine the importance of individualised care, the various safeguarding policies in place and managing potential risks.
Section 3: Responding to suspected or disclosed abuse
Your learners will explore the course of action to be taken if abuse of an adult is suspected, as well as local whistleblowing policy procedures.
Section 4: Protecting people from harm and abuse – locally and nationally
In this section, your learners will cover possible barriers to alerting or referring relevant agencies to an alleged abuse, as well as legislation in place currently which relates to the sharing of information.
Section 5: Safeguarding children
Your learners will explore the procedures to follow, based on profession, if it is suspected that a child or young person is experiencing abuse.
